Woke up dreaming of Louisiana
Even though I'm sleeping
in Thunder Bay
Out my window
the sign says Kapuskasing
While the moon and the stars
sing sweet Virginia's name

I ain't never been to Nashville
Tennessee is a waltz I've never had
North Carolina, South Carolina
Sounds like they'd be fun to me
Mississippi is a long hard word to say
I come from north of the border way

Found myself thinking about a town
called Memphis
Hoping I'll be stopping there someday
But for now I'm here passing through a
place called Kemptville
On the 43 driving in the pouring rain
I ain't never been to Texas
The Astrodomes a stage I long to play
Little Rock in Arkansas
is waiting there for me
Oklahoma is a good old country state
I come from north of the border way

Georgia is a peach that I have
yet to dine on
Lately I've been tempted by
the warm Kentucky sun
Here I am rolling through
a place called Kemptville
I'm packing up my bags and heading
down an open road

Woke up dreaming of Louisiana
Even though I'm sleeping
in Thunder Bay
Out my window
the sign says Kapuskasing
While the moon and the stars
sing sweet Virginia's name
I come from north of the border way
